Owners Brian Brown and chef Craig Errickson first founded the brewhouse-style establishment in 1998 with 18 microbrew and domestic beers on tap, a true first for the Outer Banks at that time.

Over the past few decades, North Carolina has become a state known for the craft brews, and you will find a few of them featured at the bar at Red Drum Grille & Taphouse. And they have traditional favorites as well. So whether you are a fan of the People’s Porter by Foothills Brewing Company in Winston-Salem or you prefer the classic Yuengling Traditional Lager, you will have no problem finding a pint to raise in a toast to your Outer Banks vacation. Perhaps you would enjoy a Pacifico with lime or something a bit heavier in a Guinness Black Lager. Red Drum has got you covered.

While you enjoy your beer in this Nags Head restaurant, you can also enjoy kicking back in the comfortable furniture or challenging your friends to a game of pool or foosball. If you’re a video game fan or a sports fan, there are games and televisions available too! And the beer pairs great with the food at Red Drum Grille & Taphouse, where you can order bar food and steamed food until midnight.

Belgian White

Belgian-Style White (or Wit) / Belgian-Style Wheat (5.4% ABV)On Tap$6
Blue Moon Brewing CompanyGolden, Colorado
Blue Moon® Belgian White* was our first year-round release back in 1995. It started with our brewmaster, Keith Villa, wanting to craft a beer inspired by the flavorful Belgian Wits he enjoyed while studying brewing in Belgium. He brewed his interpretation using Valencia orange peel versus the traditional tart Curaçao orange peel, for a subtle sweetness. Then he added oats and wheat to create a smooth, creamy finish that’s inviting to the palate. As a final touch, he garnished the beer with an orange slice to heighten the citrus aroma and taste. Its natural unfiltered appearance adds to the depth of flavors in Belgian White*. Available in 12-oz. bottles, 6-pack, 12-pack, Brewmaster’s can, 16-oz. can, DraftBlue Moon® Belgian White* was our first year-round release back in 1995... Read More

Gaelic Ale

American-Style Amber/Red Ale (5.6% ABV)On Tap$6
Highland Brewing CompanyAsheville, North Carolina
A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness. It has a universal appeal and is our workhorse, accounting for about half of our total production. This was our first beer and was originally named Celtic Ale in honor of the Scots and Irish who originally settled the Appalachian region. We had to change the name – unbeknownst to us, Bert Grant Brewery had a federal patent for “Celtic Ale." The term "Gaelic" more commonly refers to the language of the Celtic peoples in Scotland and Ireland and particularly to the Scottish Highlanders. The dark amber color is similar to a Scottish Ale but the flavor and body is more in the style of American amber.A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade... Read More

Lagunitas Brewing CompanyPetaluma, California
This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you're on.This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the...
